Also for all you fellas out there... if you're single the ladies will love it because you can trick them into thinking you're not a slob. They may find out later but they may have already fallen for you.

Gutcheck Time = Glorious Victory
Metal Heads Vs. ShamrocksA Gutsy win by the boys in black tonight. After a 3-0 deficit going into the 2nd, the Metal Heads rallied and closed out the 2nd with a strong effort scoring 4 unanswered goals and taking the lead 4-3. 2 powerplay goals in the 2nd period shifted the momentum and great play from our goalie Goard (who earned the blue collar hard hat award) kept us in the game making some key saves.
In the 3rd the Shamrocks tied the game, but with a quick bounce back the Metal Heads took the lead and sustained the added pressure in the final minute to close out the game 5-4. The 2 Kevin's and Jon each had 3 pts tonight. Andy also potted the PP goal that started the wave of scoring in the 2nd. Not a bad effort. I sound like a broken record but "dump and chase" sure seems to work.

The Police Raid GM Place
Just got back from a special Police Rehearsal Concert @ GM Place. Was a pretty decent show. Nice stage and good tunes, but I wasn't completely blown away. It lacked a little of the spark and energy I'm used to seeing in a live show, but maybe it's an age thing. I still expect it'll be the highest grossing tour of this year.
I was very fortunate to score some great tickets from work and the highlight for me was to actually get to see Stewart Copeland drum live. He's by far one of the most influential drummers of our era and all the bands I love basically view Stewart Copeland and John Bonham as the legendary drum gods of yesteryear. I would expect the shows will get better as time goes on and they gel a bit more, after all it's been 25 years since they toured last. Maybe if we're lucky Best Buy will be sponsoring many more concert tours... I hear Bon Jovi has a new album coming out...
Here's some pictures and video i took from the concert:
UPDATE: More Pictures - ie better ones that Luis took from the concert.

My Prayers are answered: Canucks HD Hockey!!!
In a recent press release from Roger's Sportsnet:Rogers Sportsnet and the Vancouver Canucks are pleased to announce details of their multi-year agreement that will see Sportsnet Pacific continuing as the Canucks' Official Broadcaster.
The team's primary broadcaster since 1998, Sportsnet will televise 47 Canucks games exclusively in
I'm so happy. 95 HD telecasts over the next 4 seasons will average about 23 HD games. That's about half of the Sportsnet broadcasts. Add in all the CBC broadcasts we'll get in HD with them adding a second HD unit, plus TSN coverage and we're in for some high quality action. We might be able to get at least half of the games in HD this year. Now we just need to get PPV to broadcast in HD and the revolution will truly be televised. Good job by Chris Zimmerman for this negotiation with Sportsnet. I can now stop complaining about stupid Sportsnet non-HD broadcasts.

Canucks ink Kesler to 5.2 million 3 year deal
Seems a little expensive right now, but could approve to be a very affordable signing if he has a good year. We know for sure he's got wheels and is an awesome checking forward and a vital part of the PK unit. I trust Nonis, he's got a plan and he's proven to be a very crafty GM who makes decisions that are very much in the best interest of the clubs future.Who can blame the kid for taking the offer sheet from Bobby Clarke? If I was offered 1.9 million instead of a $700,000 contract, I'd sure as hell take it. And so would everyone else. He had a lot of pressure on him last season, but he could contribute offensively this coming season. 10 goals from him would not be a long shot. Plus he won over the hearts of many a Canuck fan with his legendary scrap against Iginla
Spider-suck!!!
Spiderman 3 sucked. I knew it going into it, but I had to see it for myself. It was better than X-Men 3 but only by a hair. That makes a continuation of butchered Marvel Comic adaptations.I never was a big fan of the Spiderman movies to begin with, probably because it was pretty much my favourite Marvel comic. It had soooo much potential with Venom in it, but they cast Foreman from that 70's show... wtf? Eddie Brock was supposed to be a massive dude, like big like Bertuzzi big.
The curse of the Marvel 3rd continues. Spiderman 3 sucked. X-Men 3 sucked worse. Blade Trinity blew. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer will probably suck and when they make a 3rd one... you guessed it. It'll suck more.
But don't worry I'll go see it to make sure, just in case.Wow I sound like a bitter barn...
On a happier note... the perks of work are paying off. I'm get free tickets to the Police this Sunday. But wait you say... they're not playing a show Sunday. Haha... they are it's a private rehearsal show before they kick of the tour. VIP section too. We may never see this reunion again so it should be awesome. Hope they rekindle the magic.

Lost Season Finale - WTF was that?

I'm purely confused. What the hell kind of ending was that to a season?
Season 3 was a disappointment. They basically have one more season to turn it around or it's over. They definitely haven't been able to capture the magic of the first season whatsoever. First hour or so was decent, they started to resolve some things. Then they throw the monkey wrench of the flash forward instead of the flash back?
I've felt through the last season that the writers are grasping for straws now. They don't seem to have much of an idea where this series is going. Hopefully the time off air for a bit will get their creative juices flowing. At least I don't have to watch that silly hobbit every week. Good job Charlie - you could have left the door open and not drowned. Idiot.

Post Game: Random thoughts

Don't eat chicken strips and fries and hour before your hockey game.
It sits really heavy and it was really hard to get going. My legs didn't really get moving until halfway through the game. by then it was 5-0. It was nice to have some friends fill in as spares. Jan and Kobe rocked the blue hockey pants. We lost 7-1 but had fun anyway, the other team should be playing in a higher division. Oh well maybe we can set a realistic goal of team with the highest penalty minutes.
Next up.Visit Jonathan Coulton's website. he's an awesome musician with the pop sensibility of Ben Folds. Former software programmer turned musician = super awesome geek pop. Quit his job and with the blessing of his wife decided to try being a musician full time. To add focus he committed to writing a song a week for a year. Some turned out to be priceless gems. He's also the traveling troubadour for John Hodgman - the comedian who wrote "The Areas of my Expertise", and more recently "PC" in the Mac ads. Below is a wicked zombie pop tune titled "re: your brains" - Enjoy.
Also here's the same song in a neat video
I think I'm getting the hang of this blogging thing, although it took me an hour and 15 minutes to figure out how to embed an mp3 file into this page. Regardless, now I know for next time. Now how do I get more than one song...

The TV Tirade

For those of us with day jobs, TV shows take up a good chunk of our weeknight evenings. Then for those of us with PVR's we can tape those shows that happen to occur at the same time on a different channel. GOD BLESS technology! Then there's time shifting for when you can't wait to watch your favourite show and don't want to wait till later... So I'll get on with it. This is a spoiler alert for those that might not want to find out what happened.
Season Finale Roundup
The How I Met Your Mother Season Finale was pretty decent. Love the writers on that show. Apparently, they wrote "Clone High" also an awesome short lived MTV cartoon. I'm a little confused that whether or not it was the last episode of the show or not. It had kind of an air to it with the whole Robin and Ted breakup, but there's so much more they can go ahead with. I've got my fingers crossed that it wasn't. It's one of the few comedy shows I like that will send my girlfriend into infectious fits of giggles. She continues to "claim" that she doesn't like the show.
Smallville Season Finale was pretty crazy. Lana died? Highly unlikely, the milk truck driving by was much too obvious. Bizzaro Clark Kent I'm looking forward to that. Martha Kent taking off to Washington, DC was kind of lame though. You'd think they'd have found a better way to write off her character. Chloe's strange healing powers throw an interesting twist. Hopefully we'll be seeing more justice league next season.
CSI - Las Vegas - You gotta love the whole miniature killer thing. Super intriguing. Who knew the killer was a deranged girl? Will Sara bite the dust? Gill tells the team he loves her? Heavy stuff. Jorja Fox is a holdout on her contract so she might not come back...
Looking forward to watching the LOST season finale this week. It'll be interesting to see how they string it all together. It was so tight through the first season, and then has gradually slowly unraveled. Too many filler episodes if you ask me. Lots of little mysteries to understand, I'll definitely tune in.
Basically you just learned that I watch too much TV.

2 Minutes in the box - The Conference Finals
How clutch is the Spezza, Heatley, and Alfredsson line? A high powered offense, great fore-check and surprisingly good play by Emery and the Sens are on their way to the Stanley Cup finals. They made surprisingly short work of the Buffalo Sabres, who many thought would go on to win everything this year. The big question is who are they going to play?

Anaheim stole the game last night, in a game totally dominated by Detroit. They have the 3-2 series lead now, even after playing game 4 without Pronger. I'd like to see Anaheim and Ottawa just because I'd be able to watch some 7pm PST games. Stupid eastern time. Furthermore I hate afternoon hockey games, but that'll be a rant for another day.
Oh well. Go Sens.

Air Guitar Competition = Pure Awesomeness

Loved it. Totally amusing. However, a little disappointed that none of the air guitarists understand that you might need to also move your "fretting hand".
In a world without responsibilities I'd quit my job and pursue the art of air guitar. I think I might start training for next year. Check out Sven from the air guitar finals, you gotta love the botched stage dive at the end.
Just added Johnny Utah the reigning Air Guitar Champ from the Whistler region.

First Blog

My First Blog
Blogging is like an open diary. Those journals your grade school teacher made you write, but now they can be interesting with pictures and videos. Like Doogie Houser at his computer screen at the end of his show. I think it's safe to say I probably won't have that many insightful things to write about. Morality and family values I will mostly keep to myself. However, shameless plugs for whatever I'm up to... that's totally different.
We'll see if anybody cares to take a ride on the Lenny-Goh-Round. I wonder if that pickup line ever would have worked?
